An alien from a dying planet, the shape-shifting warrior, Tuyouk, has lived the last fifteen years as a member of the Kimsavi tribe, in a manufactured dimension near Earth.
Tuyouk finally has everything he's ever wanted: a home in nature, a beautiful, magical wife, Ayana. Even his emotionally fragile brother, Danny, seems to have settled into primitive village life, and feels at home.
As they return to their village from an All-Tribe Summit, Tuyouk and Ayana are looking forward to welcoming their first child. Unfortunately, their first night home, Tuyouk disappears, taken by an unknown force. His absence leaves an unceremonious void in Danny's and Ayana's lives, while a different sort of void, one that existed in their minds, suddenly begins to overflow with facts that had been purposely deleted from their memories. They realize that Tuyouk has been misrepresenting who he really is for years--not a Kimsavi warrior, but a disguised extraterrestrial.
Still loving him as they do, when they've discovered he's been abducted to Earth, Ayana and Danny rush there to save him, unaware of how unprepared for traversing a modern city they are. They both want nothing more than to find Tuyouk and bring him home, but their first challenge, in this huge, alien world, is to simply find him.
