A retired couple plan a once in a lifetime trip to Canada which they endeavour to ensure is unstructured and spontaneous all along the way but it unexpectedly goes very wrong when the impulsively rent a cabin cruiser for a leisurely afternoon on the coastal waters of Vancouver and are caught in a devastating storm. They find themselves marooned on a desert island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean miles from civilization and with only each other to rely upon. However, far from being traumatized and scared, they begin to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of their surroundings which are further enhanced by a chance discovery that could change their lives forever. There follows a period of soul-searching and self-discovery which culminates in an intimacy they have never before experienced.
