Marvin's Garden
Tracy L Williams
Marvin watches Grandpa gardening for years before he is given a plot of his own. Using what he learned, he plants a healthy crop that yields a nice harvest. Excited, Marvin takes all his produce to school to show off and share. Once everything has been devoured Marvin's friends don't seem to come around anymore and in fact, some make fun of him for not having any lunch. Upon finding out what happened at school, Grandpa realizes that Marvin failed to save seeds for replanting and decides to teach Marvin a lesson in prudence. This delightful story is about working, saving, planning, peer pressure, and sharing. Marvin learns how to be wiser and how to better plan for the future.
