In 1954, Nicholas Farrington was 20 years old and lived with his parents in Shelby. He worked at the local store for an odd, but kind old man named Mr. Shepherd. After a gruesome tragedy, he had a brief encounter with a mysterious stranger. The man gave him a coin before departing. Upon inspection, Nicholas found it to be much more unique than any other. Imprinted on its face was the year 2,154. To deal with his recent loss and his curiosity over the coin, he pursued his dreams. He buried himself in his studies, graduated, and built the machine that would deeply affect the rest of his life and many others.
