Under the shrewd leadership of Vasily Ivanovich, the Russian Mafia in London is rapidly expanding its business in Europe. To launder the enormous proceeds, they strategically embark on a new, ingenious way to make their profits legal. The heir to a London gangster's fortune decides to send incriminating evidence about Matthias Callaghan to Scotland Yard in retaliation for his past dealings with the deceased gangster. Travelling from his home in Australia, Callaghan is arrested in Italy upon arrival. After being extradited to the UK, he's later released on bail. Exiting the prison, he immediately gets kidnapped and drugged, and is then left for dead. Regaining consciousness, Callaghan finds himself in Africa. Reaching the Mediterranean, he can only return to Europe by risking a precarious journey with illegal migrants. Barely surviving the sea voyage, the penniless Callaghan manages to get to Switzerland, where he seeks help from a surgeon who has performed transplants on him. With the doctor's help, he clandestinely reaches London. By coincidence, Callaghan pays a visit to a flat he has once owned, only to be taken aback by several revealing surprises. Later, Callaghan learns that Vasily has abducted his wife. In exchange for her release, Vasily demands his immediate presence in Paris. When Callaghan has no option but to comply, a shared, unexpected and terrifying event changes life for both. This excruciating event leads to Vasily and Callaghan having to face one another during a long, tense night.
