Borrowed life is the story of a young girl growing up in Iran. A journey through political and domestic wars amidst living with a rare illness. Growing up during the Islamic Revolution Halleh recalls living through bombings in Tehran during the war between Iran and Iraq. At home she struggles with a different kind of war. A continuous domestic battle between her parents that ultimately lead to their separation when she was 16 years old. In her book, Holly shares challenges of growing up with her terminal blood disorder. She also recalls many realities of life in Iran after the revolution. This is a story of survival in a conflicted country, a divided family and a broken body. A story of resilience and strength. To shift perspective on life challenges and to live life to the fullest.
