Want an easy-to-learn, fun roleplaying game? Want a pastime that's not like memorising homework? Want a break from fussy, hard-to-find polyhedral dice? How's about an RPG with an ultra-simple core mechanic: the odds on a single die! That's right! A mere eleven choices on 1D6 to power an entire roleplaying game! This is the ALEA UNA System, and it's being launched with the Fantastic-Mediaeval roleplaying setting called MEADOWS & MEGALITHS! The once-upon-a-time world of MEADOWS & MEGALITHS is about saving the Earth Herself from the evil monsters which burrow, burn, destroy and pillage. The player-characters (PCs) are heroes who have sworn to defend the Earth from ultimate destruction, but they must hurry! The forces of evil out-number them many times to one, and, if the Good Guys fail, the Earth perishes, and all with Her! This game was written with an Old School design philosophy: lighter on rules than contemporary RPGs, simple mechanics, and a relaxed framework which heartily encourages the contribution and creativity of both the Referee and his or her Players. Great for adults who crave a return to ROLE-playing instead of having to look up and argue about convoluted rules in many seperate rulebooks, squint at dense tables and charts, and suffer the sluggish tedium of ROLL-playing. MEADOWS & MEGALITHS also serves as an excellent "gateway game" for young children, offering a setting where their imaginations may blossom by introducing them to the marvels of the hobby without confusing them with too many rules, regulations, instructions and prohibitions.
