This quirky murder mystery, speckled with dark humor and sarcasm, recalls the life of a young, naïve girl from South Carolina who leaves the family farm to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion photo journalist. She was shy, with few friends. No one considered her beautiful other than her father, who died when she was younger. She and her mother have a strange relationship due to years of emotional abuse. Her mother had a religious zeal that left little room for tolerance. Her only means of escaping her mother was to move far away. Her mother made arrangements for a family friend to give her a job in New York. She loved the job and started to believe in herself for the first time. Through a series of bizarre dreams, fragmented memories and other events, she discovers that the family friend has secrets that will destroy the family. Only after it is too late, does she realize that her family's secrets were much more sinister and deadly. The answers to the family mystery lies between states and generations. This whodunit is resolved by two divergent thinking sleuths, the NY detective and the SC Sheriff. The detective could not rest until he resolved what had become a mission to restore honor to the young woman and in some way redeem himself.
