This book will introduce the history of ballast water and threats it causes to our oceans. You will also understand the current rules, regulations and conventions. Per country ballast water discharge standards are explained clearly. The book will also detail the significance of ballast water management treatment code.

For the past 12 years, I have worked as an Engineer and a Manager for the ballast water treatment system companies in the USA, where I have made it my mission to deliver a quality product to the ship owners/Shipyards. Dedicated to continuing professional development, my credentials include a Bachelors in Marine engineering, Masters in Ocean engineering and MBA in project management. I have delivered 40 plus ballast water treatment systems to vessel owners till date.

I wrote this book as an overview of ballast water and its management for the shipping community. I hope this book will be a valuable reference for students, researchers and engineers. My goal is to let the world know about this pollution that has started 2 decades ago since the ships started using water as a means to stabilize the ship for bad weather and safety purposes.

Thank you for reading this book.
