During the Viet Nam era, young men that graduated from high school with no real direction in their lives were more than likely destined to be drafted. Going from fun loving high school graduates with girls, parties, cars, and music as their priorities were suddenly shocked into the reality of war. The author tells the story of his life, as well as many friends, family members, and classmates during, what in some cases, was a very dark time. Some eventually came out of the darkness. Some never got the chance. The author shares both the comical and the tragic stories. The journey takes you from a small town in Illinois, to Oregon and back. Searching for answers, dealing with the reality, and making the transition. It had to be done one way or the other.
