The Wistful Scent of Lilac
Bobbi Miles
Eldri Holm has been badly fooled by Ole Larsen, in whom she'd had implicit trust. She's equally angry at Ole and herself. Ole fooled her, but she could have prevented it. Humiliated at being nothing but an ignorant Norwegian immigrant, she chooses to leave her life in the Skagit Valley and go to live with her sister in Seattle. As Eldri seeks to regain control of her life, her fate becomes intertwined with events at Seattle's first world's fair, the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition of 1909. Eldri knows the choices she makes will affect not only her, but also a precious baby, for the rest of her life. Ole can only stand by and hope the choices Eldri makes will include him.
