This volume contains a collection of fourteen short stories, dealing with working class individuals and their economic, educational, social, familial and religious struggles. Included in this compilation are, "Clever Chimp in a Gilded Cage," which is about a working-class man who envies his successful friend. "The Teacher and the Student," is about a teacher from an upper-class background who is concerned with the truancy of his student. "The Supervisor," concerns a woman who is devoted to her career and to her plan to have a baby without marrying her lover and companion.
