South-West Shorts is an initiative of Western Edge Performance Writers in Perth, Western Australia to foster relationships between Perth and South-West writers and create an opportunity for original local work to be heard. Writers from the cities of Bunbury, Busselton and Perth, and the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River Western Australia were invited by Western Edge Performance Writers in Perth to join them in writing a short, original monologue or duologue on the theme 'Changing Landscapes'. A panel of judges then chose six finalists: three from the South-West region and three from Perth. The six winning authors workshopped their scripts with the director, and all six plays were performed to an enthusiastic audience at Margaret River's new HEART black box studio. The Change by Donyale MacKrill won the Judge's Award, A Block of River Bed by Sky River won the People's Choice Award and Donna Chatfield won Best Performance for her role in The Wait by David Rawet. The event was proudly sponsored by Western Edge Performance Writers and Arts Margaret River.
