From a spiritual standpoint, in order to circumvent, that is to outwit, the ensnarement of the spirit of depression and suicide, we as God's children must have the spirit of a chess champion. Our Lord expresses it alittle differently, but I believe it is the same concept: Matthew 10:16 "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."How could I not only have suicidal thoughts, but actually attempt to kill myself several times? How could I be filled with so much gloom that I neglected myself hygienically, and did not change my undergarments nor comb my hair for weeks? How could it be that "Rev," who had been ordained several times and even preached on the WORD Network once, be unconscious from overdosing on sleeping pills? What was I doing in the psychiatric ward after being handcuffed and restrained because I attempted to run away from the hospital before being processed to enter the psychiatric ward?I after several additional attempts to commit suicide, decided that I would make the culprit of the cesspool of misery that I was in, pay for all of the damage, the brokenness and agony, and the wasted time.
