Joe is a typical teenager in the early 50's. He is insecure and unsure of himself, directionless, and embarrassing reflection of his parents' values, safe, staid conformity. Then along comes Elvis. He turns convention and society upside down with a newmusic, rock and roll, with wild body gyrations oozing sexuality. Joe, and teenagers everywhere, want in. Porky, Joe's best friend, is an Elvis clone and leads the neighborhood kids down one cool path after another: ducktail haircuts, turned up collars, zip shoes, pegged pants, souped up cars, parties, and hot dances with rocking music. But happy days can't last. Teenagers must become adults, and that world is filled with challenges and uncertainties. Friends part, hearts are broken, dreams turn to disillusionment, and a world crisis jeopardizing everyone's safety must be resolved immediately before it's too late.
