What do you think of when you hear the word hero? Does your mind immediately go to a fictional character with superhuman powers, or do you think of a police officer, firefighter, or military soldier? Maybe you think of a bystander putting their own life in danger while pulling a victim from a car that's ready to explode. No matter where your mind takes you, heroes come in all shapes, sizes, and various walks of life. Some are hailed by the evening news, and some receive no recognition at all. The common thread among all heroes is that they save someone's life, usually while making some type of sacrifice of their own. Inside this book are stories of real-life heroes and the people whose lives they touched. They are ordinary people, just like you and me. The general public has no idea what they did, but the person they helped will never forget them.
