Our Ghost Family is perhaps written with a little more sophistication and emotional depth than an average ghost story, and 'family' is a constant theme. Together, Frank Johnson, his wife, Marjorie, and their teenage son, Thomas, are forced by the conflicts between the settlers and the Indians to move to the eastern side of the country, where they are hired to manage the beautiful Hester Estate. Five years later, the Johnson family is killed in the kitchen of the mansion. Who is to blame? So, as dear friends, the ghosts of Mr. and Mrs. Hester mentor the Johnson family as they all travel in a beautiful ghost carriage, driven by a mysterious man, who insists on being addressed simply as Driver. Together, they encounter ghosts of royalty, pirates, children, a witch, gold miners, a spooky chess game, some at a boarded-up insane asylum, and others. Also, they meet some friendly and mythical whirlwind spirits with whom they work to send ghosts held in prison to sleep. These ghost rescues take place in old graveyards, abandoned buildings, battlefields, an army fort, a prison for ghosts, and even a rescue at the bottom of the sea!When the Johnson family discover who effectively placed the darkness in their hearts by killing them, how will they handle it, and what are the consequences? Will a romance spring up for Thomas and Selena, the new recruit? What's next for them?
