The Heart of Nursing Jeanne Koester
The Heart of Nursing
Jeanne Koester
This book is about the adventures and experiences I had as a registered nurse over 53 years. I wanted to share these experiences to inspire men and women to choose nursing as a lifetime career. Nurses truly make a difference in the lives of people they care for. These adventures all touched my heart in various ways. It made me realize how just the simplest act, like a hug, holding their hand, or a smile, can mean so much to someone who is scared of dying or someone who feels like there is no-one who can help them. The is the excitement of saving a life or holding a newborn child. There is the rush of energy you get when there is a crisis in a patient's condition that makes your heart pump faster and the look of peace on the face of a woman who died, knowing that someone cared and was there for her. Nursing is not just theory and based on technology, but true hands on care. It should be a combination of both.
