As a student, I recognize the value in receiving a good educational foundation. I have been privileged enough to have had the opportunity to utilize some of the best educational resources throughout my life. But what about those who have been placed in circumstances that stunt the level of education they can receive? In Imprisoned and Educated, we take a closer look inside the prison education system through a series of interviews examining the lives of formerly incarcerated people and education professionals who work closely with students both in and out of the prison system. We identify the overlooked facets of prison education, its limitations, and benefits. Along the way, we explore societal attitudes toward incarceration and education.
