E. M. Foster (Jan. 1st 1879-June 7th 1970) was an English novelist and short story writer. The death of a wealthy aunt allowed him to pursue the kind of life, both professionally and personally that he wanted. He wrote six novels with a keen eye for character and place. He was gay in an age that did not accept nor condone such behaviour.
