The Women of Avalon Village pays homage to The women of Brewster Place in this series, with the exception of the narrator CJ born and raised in Grenada, Mississippi, raised by her grandmother moved to St. Louis, MO for grad school focuses on her life and her interactions with her neighbors who range from an elderly woman, the neighborhood gossiper, drug addict, to a drug dealer and his girlfriend. C. J. a teacher in one of the city's high schools who is passionate about her students is fearless and often time misunderstood. She's on a quest to eradicate the maltreatment of disenfranchised students in an impoverished neighborhood. To make an impact, she decides to move in Avalon Village which is seen as the ghetto to her family but to her it's being with people who are underprivileged and want change but have no idea how.
