This novella is a story of personal relationships peppered with musings on the morals of our time. The story, while fictional, is realistic and though its setting is a fraction of the larger world, it is a slice of real life as it's lived. Jack and Jane had known each other since childhood and had been in love all their lives. Jack came from a stable background in which religion played a strong part, while Jane was raised by an aunt after her parents were killed in a car accident when she was eight years old. The loss of her parents was a trauma that left her insecure and in fear of tragedy for the rest of her life. Jack could endure difficulties and reverses in his life, while Jane was thrown into a spin at the first crisis. A year after they were married, Jack's demanding job took the hours away from the time he spent with Jane, and she promptly took her leave. Separated, they became easy prey to the dragons of pleasure; and their marriage was rushing, it seemed, toward an unstoppable and painful end. Will Jack's unshakable love for Jane prevail, or will she drift away after a headlong dive into her new world of glitz and unbridled pleasure?
