This is not the story of a hero. This is the story of Adam Rodriguez, a soldier trying to pick up the pieces of a life that was stolen from him. On a mission in Afghanistan gone sideways, Adam finds himself at the mercy of a vicious warlord, and the warlord's murderous ambition lands Adam on the other side of the Pale, where he finds his world has become unaccountably stranger. New terrors, some bizarre and others all too familiar, prey upon his home, and to face these new threats, he, too, must become stranger: a monster, a hunter of monsters.
