Caleb and Sean love living in Arizona where they can play outside most of the time, but Sean has one big problem that he does not know how to solve. He cannot figure out how to spell! Out of nowhere, they receive a visitor who can help Sean overcome this frustrating issue. He just happens to be an owl that is very wise and knows everything. The Wise Old Owl sends the boys on an adventure to Camelback Mountain in the Arizona desert where they have to use stamina and ingenuity to complete their mission. They are met with several obstacles along the way, including the possibility of a dangerous rattlesnake! They don't quite get it right the first time, but their ultimate success is greatly rewarded, and so is the Wise Old Owl.
