This story begins and ends on Opening Day of the 1970 Major League baseball season at Gotham Stadium, home to the New York Warriors, perennially last-place finishers. That is, until the previous season and the arrival of two new up-and-coming players--Billy Cantrell, a second baseman, and Jessie Davis, a shortstop.
