The story of Ruby Goes to School is about an elephant with one tusk who is afraid to go to school because she is different. Her mom explains, "it's okay to be different" and told Ruby that she will meet lots of friends and assured her that if everyone were the same it would be boring. Armed with confidence and excitement, Ruby was ready to go to school and meet lots of friends. When she realizes that being different is okay and meeting all kinds of friends who are different, she ends up loving her first day of school.
