The year was 1859. The Pike's Peak Gold Rush hit the foot of the Rocky Mountains like a typhoon, bringing wave upon wave of miners and settlers to this new land. There wasn't just gold to be discovered. There was new life, new relationships and new ways of thinking. As you journey with CW Burbridge and William Loveland, you will find that they had little in common when they decided to carve out a living in the fledgling town of Golden City in the Colorado Territories. Encounters with less than friendly Indians and hard times were common place in the Wild West, and the challenges of raising a family would intertwine their hope for survival. These settlers will leave their mark on your heart as they did on the history of Golden. Coni Billings is a fourth generation Colorado Native. She lives in the mountains of Colorado with her husband, Len and their children. She enjoys writing, art and the beautiful Colorado mountains. You can contact her at RedemptionsBell@gmail.com
