The Bible begins with God's glorious creation in an ideal state, and at the pinnacle, man, created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). By the close of the third chapter man had fallen into sin, his fellowship with the Creator irreparably severed. From that moment the balance of the Old Testament looks toward one singular moment in time, the coming of one singular individual: the promised redeemer (Genesis 3:15). Matthew, known as the most widely read book in the world, heralds that greatest of all moments. The book of Matthew shows us see the person, nature, authority, program, and work of the Great King. He also demonstrates that the Old Testament is fulfilled, wrapped up & completed. We see the Glorious Kingdom brought into view and established as the King takes His throne in Heaven, after having made the perfect sacrifice to redeem his Kingdom people. Obedience to His great teachings prepares us for the coming judgment. There is much for us to learn about Christ, the nature of His Kingdom, and the fulfillment of the Old Testament through a verse by verse study of this great book. This volume is the second in a planned series of verse by verse commentaries of the Bible. Each chapter is addressed by an alumnus of the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, TX.
