The Grave Decade
Elisha Otieno
The Grave Decade is the story of my life experience over a ten-year period that created a wedge between me and other residents of my community. It shares our traumatizing experiences of stigma, hopelessness, and dehumanizing scenarios. In summary, I developed epilepsy at the age of fourteen years old and suffered the consequences for ten years, until I was treated by The Kenya Association for the Welfare of Epileptics (KAWE). I saw the need to share my sorrowful experience because it may offer solutions to other people in the same situation. But the story is not confined to this painful part of my life, it also includes other tales that are literary and healthy for a reading community. It shares my experiences with religious doctrines and cultural beliefs. The book features my school teachers, religious leaders, medicine men, relatives and other community members. Elisha Otieno was born in Siaya, Kenya. Formerly a computer technician, he is now a full-time writer. This is his first book. Publisher's website: http://sbpra.com/ElishaOtieno
