Raekon, Sovereign of Organic Earth, is informed of a problem within the barricaded region known as Thistlebriar-a place for those that choose to live violently. He and the World Assembly members are distraught on hearing an informer speak about the abuse and killings of people called meeks. He sends a team of spies into Thistlebriar to investigate.




The team must go beyond the barrier wall where no one from the outer world has ever entered. Thistlebriar has existed for more than 400 years and Raekon is ridden with guilt for not doing something about it much sooner. He follows after the team into the unknown, aware the possibilities of finding a solution may be hopeless, and if discovered, they could be killed.
