He served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on policy planning of the Republic of Korea and President of the Academy of Korean Studies. He is the author of several books, including "Habermas and the Korean Debate" (Seoul National University Press, 1998); and "Global Forum on Peace and Civilization".
