Variations on Lyons Michael Haydn
Variations on Lyons
Michael Haydn
The tune Lyons first appeared in Gardner's Sacred Melodies published in London in 1815. It is attributed to Franz Josef Haydn's younger brother, Michael, since a number of pieces by both composers begin with this opening phrase. Today, the tune is found in hymnals worldwide with a variety of texts. An excellent ensemble for contest, concert, and worship. OMEA Class C.
