Originally published in 1856, this very popular manual went through numerous printings. A practical guide written ""so even the most inexperienced may, with this book in hand, start, plant, perfect, and cultivate a vineyard, and make good, wholesome wine."" An immigrant from Germany, Reemelin had his own vineyard in Ohio and recommended planting only the native Catawba in the Ohio Valley.
