The sites of Mesoamerica's incredible past; the indigenous aborigines without any outside influence had built cities of a beauty and size unparalleled in Europe at that time. It has been said that America is a continent without history, the stupidity of this comment is self-evident when confronted by the archeological sites of these mighty cities of such grace and beauty. After listening to some of the colorful myths and legends, I became enthralled, in particular after hearing the legend of a Toltec god named Quetzalcoatl (Plumed Serpent) he was described as a black-bearded white man. Who appeared a thousand years before the European invasion, he was a teacher, inventor, architect and painter. He eventually left Mexico saying he would return when in March 1519 Hernan Cortez landed in Mexico with a mere 600 men he met no resistance because the Indians thought he was Quetzalcoatl returning. This mistake cost them and the world of the loss of a complete civilization. I feel this novel, the first of many I hope, may appeal to readers of historical action novels. I enjoyed both writing it and reading it. This novel is set on the Mexico of the first millennia A. D. Loka a young Toltec Indian destined to be High Chief of the Toltec Nation is sent on his manhood trials during which he finds a shipwrecked European. The Toltec tribe are being bled to death by the city-state they are in thrall to, Loka and his white friend unite his people and challenge the mighty city state.
