Inky and the King
Richard Wickliffe
An undersea fantasy picture book about a young squid who befriends the "King of all Music" to learn lessons about our differences and inner strengths -and some subtle satire for the parents. Inky the squid is sheltered with a lack of diversity. When surrounded by sharks, he stumbles onto a treasure containing a magical belt -from it emanates the King of all Music. Inky must team with his alleged rivals, the Calamari brothers, to confront the sharks and save the King. In the spirit of "Rainbow Fish," Inky must rethink his behavior towards others. Like Lionni's "Swimmy," Inky believes he's an insignificant creature, only to discover the power he has within.
