Ella Brady and India Howard are at it again, creating drama and wreaking havoc on everyone they meet. After leaving their husbands in Phoenix doing God knows what, the besties have uprooted and moved across country to Ella's hometown, River Run, Indiana. River Run is a small town-population 198-but when the girls arrive, it comes alive when a grisly murder is committed close to home. Along for the ride is Ella's older sister, Eileen, dispatched by their mother to make sure the transition runs smoothly, and to keep the two irresponsible misfits out of trouble. Enter Hardin McClain, the on again, off again boyfriend from childhood, now the dangerously attractive County Sheriff, who finds himself up to his eyebrows in murder, mayhem and emotions long-suppressed, bubbling to the surface. Congregating in the local tavern, the gun-toting cast of quirky characters join the girls in trying to solve the murder, much to the chagrin of Sheriff McClain. Not only does he have to find the killer, but also keep the girls out of their self-induced peril-the latter of which is the real difficulty.
