Victory's Shadow begins with a history of the Greek world's victorious rise to power at the time of the Trojan War, and continues through to the conquests of Alexander the Great. Transitioning over to the founding of Rome, the book explains the emerging and dominating power of the Roman Republic in the Mediterranean. Some of the topics covered in this book are the Iliad and Mycenaean warfare, the conflicts of Athens and Sparta, the Macedonians and Alexander, and Rome's wars against the Gauls, Carthaginians, and Greeks. Victory's Shadow has numerous high-quality maps, illustrations, pictures, and is based off of my classroom lectures on ancient warfare.
