Blackwood Algernon
The Man Whom the Trees Loved is a weird tale. It's concerned with Sophia and David Bittacy living in a house on the edge of a great forest, in which David develops a deep interest. The story is observed mainly from the perspective of Sophia, who at first doesn't understand her husband's interest in the trees but soon comes to fear them - as there is something in the forest which makes it irresistible to her husband - a force which is not necessarily evil, but simply outside human comprehension.
