1981. Pretoria: Heartland of the Afrikaner. As the violence of the armed struggle against Apartheid is threatening to overwhelm South Africa, eight year old Pieter Pretorius tries to unravel the secrets within his own household that his nationalist, rugby-loving father rules with an iron fist. Thom Isaacs is a Jewish police constable whose moral awakening and disgust with the systemic and racial violence of his government threatens to out him among his fellow officers as a "lefty" and a traitor. In one week, Pieter and Thom will cross paths in a bloody confrontation that sees Pieter staring down the barrel of a gun and Thom racing to save another victim from the spiraling chaos that is tearing their homeland apart.
