Xada has been dreading his One-Eighteen ceremony when he will be transformed into a Vulture. He's lost all hope and has accepted his fate as a member of the Ebude, but the other prisoners at the library haven't given up on him yet, especially Julieta, who has recently learned she is with child. Unbeknownst to Xada, he is about to lead another daring escape attempt when they come across another town the Vultures have a stranglehold on.
