Dr. Jesse Mooney was a horse-n-buggy country doctor who practiced in Indian Territory in the late 1800s and early 1900s. He performed the first c-sections in the territory, treated eight Indian chiefs, and was instrumental in developing several pioneer communities in southeastern Oklahoma, then Indian Territory. He and his wife, Ella, who narrates this historical novel, open drugstores while moving from town to town in an effort to increase their successes and help their fellow man.
