Volume 3: Walker/Steele Family of Gunnison, Colorado. Volume I and II of this series covered the early history of the ancestors of Anna Walker, John Steele's mother. The volumes provided a detailed historical reference genealogy of the Kibbe, Everman, Walker, and Deering families from Colonization until the late 19th century. An overview of the information included in Volume I and II on the Kibbe, Everman, and Deering families is included in Chapter 2 of this volume. Volume III tells a more personal story. It relates the personal history, including letters, photos, and documents of Anna Walker, her son John Steele and his wife, Helen (Pierce) Steele, and their families. There was an extensive collection of personal letters written between John and Helen Steele, and those letters are included in their entirety. Also included are personal recollections from family members and brief histories of the Steele children. In addition, this volume provides information on the genealogy of Helen Pierce that includes the Pierce, Yoder, and Schiller families; and of John Steele's paternal genealogy, including histories of the Steele, Fitzgerald, and Klotz families.
