The book of Matthew is all about proving that Jesus is the King and Messiah of Israel! This is seen right off the bat when he starts with a long family tree of Jesus starting with Abraham the Father of the Jews. The book quotes over 60 Old Testament passages which emphasize that Jesus had ful?lled all the prophecies of the Messiah as King! So, you will see a lot of that as you SOAP thru the book! We get the story of Jesus birth, life, ministry and death, and resurrection, all from Matthews view of things! He writes it to the Jewish people primarily and so throughout the book you will see Jewish customs mentioned without any explanation as to what they mean because they understood what they meant and needed no details. We see many references to the Old Testament and Matthew constantly refers to Jesus as the Son of David, a name only Jewish people understand. The book is dripping with Jewish leanings
