Maria, a young Mexican girl seeking a better life safe from drug gangs and kidnappers, attempts to cross the Sonoran Desert alone. Near death from heat exhaustion, she is discovered and saved by Jason, an Arizona cowboy who is operating under cover with his brother-in-law, an agent of the DEA, to identify and incarcerate a Mexican drug gang. Unknown to Maria, her three brothers are members of the gang, and are hiding from authorities in an abandoned mining camp near Douglas, Arizona. Furthermore, the gang leader is using the drug operation as a cover for arms smuggling by international terrorists. With the help of his family, a rogue priest, an American Indian, and a dog named Buddy, Jason attempts to thwart the terrorists and save his country and his sweetheart from harm.
