Ruby and Henry were two children in love in a terrible place and time in history. But then, they were abducted by aliens, and their future didn't seem so bad anymore. Forging a familial bond with their captors, they colonized Mars and worked together to establish a galactic confederation in hopes of promoting peaceful relations between worlds. This is the story of the colonization of Mars, the establishment of the United Galactic Confederation, and the foundation of the Intergalactic Trading Corporation. It is a humorous tale, but it is also a bitter tale. It is a tale of love, a tale of loss, a tale of family, a tale of friendship, a tale of betrayal, a tale of war, a tale of politics, and a tale of adventure. It is the tale of Ruby and Henry, and of their captor, his ex-girlfriend, and their artificially engineered children, as well as of some of the friends and enemies they make along the way. There once was a universe. Or rather, there is, always has been, and always shall be a universe. Anyway, it was not our universe, and although it was remarkably similar in many aspects, some might argue that it was a more interesting universe. It was a universe whose galaxies had all exhausted their gas in forming new stars. As time passed, all stars in the universe died. Eventually, even protons started decaying, and all matter not in black holes disintegrated. Gradually, even black holes evaporated, and nothing remained but isolated fundamental particles floating through the cold, dark universe as it continued slowly expanding for eternity. However, long before any of that, a lot of stuff happened. This story is about some of that stuff. In the year 37666, an eleven year-old blind orphan from Antarctica, together with her friends, would attempt to put an end to the reign of a mighty ruler whose vast domain spanned across much of the known universe. But long before that could happen, that ruler gained their power through military action against many forces, some of which were obliterated, while others continued to resist. A major opponent was a nameless organization which, although centered in the Triangulum Galaxy, had been founded in the Milky Way thousands of years earlier with the assistance of the Intergalactic Trading Corporation, but forced into exile by an invading empire. At about the same time the aforementioned organization was founded, the Martian government began plotting to take over Earth, against the wishes of the United Galactic Confederation. Nearly two thousand years before that, the Mars Colony and the United Galactic Confederation were both founded with the help of two children from Earth who had been abducted by extraterrestrials. This is a very long and complicated story, so it will be told in at least four parts. The second book in this series is a work in progress, and will be available in the near future.
