To many, Ronald Reagan is as close to a god as America has ever produced. The author met the future president when Reagan was governor of California and thereby the head of the university system, at a Regents meeting held at U. C. Santa Cruz in 1969. The meeting left a lasting impression, conveyed in the title poem of this set.
