This book is based on a true life story about survival. The author describes in her own words the trials and tribulations of her life growing up in Haiti, getting into a very abusive marriage and her life as an immigrant in the United States. The book is funny, sad and triumphant. She overcomes and all the obstacles but along the way she suffers some tragic losses. It is a very interesting read especially since the book is reflecting her own words and style of writing. The author will draw you in, you will feel her suffering but will rejoice with her.
