After the author's sudden loss her 18yo son, Lee in 2015, as she struggled to survive, her daughter and she found the will to honor Lee's life by tapping into their love for him. In From a Mother's Heart, she shares the raw emotion and heartache from her loss of her beloved child as well as the strategies they used to help them cope and survive the first two years of life without Lee. Sandra describes her purpose in writing the book is to help parents, who have lost their child, find a bit of comfort by engaging in an activity to honor their child. Additionally, she shares that grieving for the loss of their child is a life long journey and they can give themselves permission to say "No" to anything that does not feel right to them or that they don't want to do. Grieving is personal and there is no timeline or rules around what it looks like. Though their heart is broken, they can tap into their love for their child, and create a loving legacy of their child's life.
