Shortly after moving to a new town, Rose Moore, who is bored and lonely, discovers an old woman, Mrs. Peabody, living in a dilapidated house that neighbors presume is abandoned due to the condemned sign in the yard. In fact, neighbors also insist that the house has remained empty for years, ever since Mr. and Mrs. Peabody died in their sleep. This certainly piques Rose's curiosity, so she returns to the house even though her parents forbid it. This begins a journey in which Rose embarks on a magical apprenticeship with Mr. and Mrs. Peabody. (Are they ghosts?) Rose also meets her new friend, Timmy, and together they create a wondrous world of magic in which they go on raucous adventures that turn them into heroes. In the meantime, Mr. and Mrs. Peabody seem to disappear. Are they ghosts? Will they ever appear again?
