SUBTITLE: Politics vs. Life: F. D. Roosevelt´s own story 1944. Description: Based on newly discovered materials, this is a novel that combines F. D. Roosevelt candid self-portrait in turbulent 1944 with the pleas for attention from his longtime assistant and friend Marguerite ("Missy") LeHand who for three years has been stroke-stricken in her Boston home. The novel also brings new insight into FDR´s very active role in picking Harry Truman to be his vice-president. While most historians seem to think FDR was too ill at that time, as he died already in early 1945, the author-historian flatly rejects this view.
